  1. You’ve made some excellent points here (and I love the close –“30 minutes of on-site yoga can’t make up for 40 hours a week spent on joyless, unrewarding work.”)

    The challenge, though, is that the leadership teams of most employers can’t or won’t honestly evaluate whether their company’s employees *are* joyless* and feel trapped in unrewarding work that is too often becoming more onerous and draining by the day.

    In fact, the whole focus of many wellness and resilience programs is to get employees sturdy enough to withstand further stress and related assaults in the workplace — work done at an even faster pace, no real off time, etc. — and employees know it.

    Until some honesty comes to the C suite, nothing’s going to change.
